The Northern Regional Minister Salifu Saeed has warned management of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) not to link him to a company called Sav-Link Company Limited.
A statement released by the minister indicated that management of SADA had made strenuous efforts to associate him with the company.
According to reports, some supporters of the NPP with interest in Sav-Link Company Limited bid for a contract from SADA to manage the sale of some tricycles but were allegedly told by officials of SADA that the regional minister had refused to issue clearance for the company.
This angered the youth, who stormed the Regional Coordinating Council in Tamale to demand the removal of the minister and halt work at the RCC for hours.
According to the minister, in June, this year, SADA advertised the outsourcing of the project in the dailies for interested private companies to bid for the contract.
“I wish to state unequivocally that I have no direct or indirect dealings with the said company and for that matter, have no responsibility to guarantee their activities. SADA should desist from playing mischief to incite the youth against me or the Regional Coordinating Council. I am prepared to call for a full investigation in this matter if they continue the deceit that I am halting the processes.”
He indicated that on Thursday, August 24, 2017, the Transport Officer and one Mr. Baba at SADA peddled an untruth to the youth that my colleague ministers in the Upper East and Upper West regions had written letters to them requesting the release of their tricycles to their respective regions but I refused to write to them for the items to be released.
“When I contacted the Upper East Regional Minister on phone, he denied ever writing any letter to SADA’.
Information reaching DAILY GUIDE indicates that the items are not supposed to go to the ministers or the RCC, but the private companies that bid for the contract.
Salifu Saeed urged the youth to avoid the violent confrontations with SADA and follow due process in their quest to protect their interests.
The region has enjoyed some relative peace so far and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will not be happy if there is turmoil in the region.
He assured the youth that there are a lot of monumental projects and government policies that are expected to be rolled out soon across the country to benefit them.
