Citizen donate towards rehabilitation of school

Mr. Charles Mensah, citizen of Kpando Aloi in the Volta Region, has donated building materials towards the rehabilitation of Kpando Roman Catholic Girls School building that was ripped off in a recent rainstorm. The materials included 160 aluminum roofing sheets, 20 boxes of trusses nails, three boxes of roofing nails and 44 pieces of ridged caps. Mr. Mensah, also Chief Executive Officer of Myrock Group of Companies in Tema, presenting the materials at ceremony at Kpando at the week, said it formed part of his contribution to the development of education the youth, particularly the girl child in the area. He said: "When I heard that the Roman Catholic Girls School building was ripped off and temporarily closed down, I felt I must contribute my widow's might so that the girls could return to the classroom before they fall prey to irresponsible men, which might affect their education." Mr. Mensah noted that education formed the foundation for the development of every country and called on individuals and organizations and other stakeholders to support the sector. He promised to release GH�10,000.00 for the building of a vocational training centre in the area to enable the youth, especially girls to acquire skills for employment. Reverend Dr. Apollinaris Anyomi, Parish Priest of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, who received the materials on behalf of the school, commended Mr Mensah for the gesture and appealed to other citizens, individuals and organizations to contribute to the development of education in the area. Togbega Dagadu VIII, Paramount chief of Akpini Traditional Area, praised Mr Mensah for the gesture and asked other citizens from the area to emulate him. The Paramount Chief noted that the development of the youth was crucial to the nation and said that land had been released for the building of a vocational training centre in the area. Mr. Francis Komla Ganyaglo, Kpando District Chief Executive (DCE), commended Mr. Mensah for the donation, building two schools in Kpando Aloi and rehabilitating Kpando Kpodzi E. P. School. The DCE said the District Assembly would assist Mr Mensah to enable him realise his developmental objectives for the area. Mr. Christian Kwasi Attor, Kpando District Co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization, cautioned house owners to secure roofs of their buildings to prevent them from been ripped off.
