Northern Parents Grateful For Free SHS Policy

Some parents and guardians across the country, especially those in the Northern Region, have expressed gratitude to government for implementing the Free SHS policy.

The excited parents were hopeful the implementation of the policy would bring relief to them and also enable students to stay in school to improve their academic performance.

Government’s free SHS policy has kick-started throughout the country.

Speaking to Daily Guide, a parent, Mohammed Yussif said the free SHS policy is very laudable and would go a long way to provide equal opportunities and access to a universal free basic education to all.

He said the move by government would lessen the burden of parents and also reduce truancy among the students.

Another parent Madam Juliet indicated that items listed in the prospectus for them to buy were affordable.

She pleaded with government to do everything possible to sustain the Free SHS policy to assist parents give their children the quality education they deserve.

Some other parents were of the view that even though government had introduced free SHS education, they would still provide some basic needs to their children.

“I will make sure that Shito, gari, mattress and other items will be provided to my children so that he will have everything he needs even though government will give them more.”

Some students, who expressed their appreciation to government for the initiative, were optimistic the policy would go a long way to facilitate their studies.

Meanwhile, authorities of the Northern Business School, NOBISCO, Tamale Secondary School and other schools in Tamale have not received the list of students.

While other institutions have started the registration process for fresh students, NOBISCO has asked first-year students to report to the school on Wednesday to check their admission status.
