Wailing Women Hold Prayer Section

Wailing women, a prayer group comprising only women, on Saturday, November 28, organized a non-denominational prayer section at the Jubilee Park, formerly referred to as Plaza, in Bolgatanga. Madam Betty Ayagiba, the Bolgatanga group leader of the group, told the Chronicle newspaper in an interview on Wednesday, that if there were any regions in Ghana that will need Gods intervention, then it was the three northern regions. She mentioned the Bawku, and Dagbon conflicts, the migration of the youth, especially the girl-child and women, to the south to engage in menial jobs, as some of the serious prayer topics handled on the prayer day. Prayers for men were also key because some of them also run to the south, and leave their wives and children to their fate. Madam Ayagiba also mentioned poverty and diseases, as other areas that the women would be asking God to eradicate, among the people. She explained that Wailing Women started the programme in the region last month, and would continue with it every last Saturday of every month, to seek Gods intervention in the already named issues. Madam Ayagiba is also the National Director of Widows and Orphans Ministry, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), with its headquarters in Bolgatanga.
