Fear is said to have gripped residents of Hyiawu-Besease in the Bosomtwe Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region following media reports that this year�s annual general conference of the Association of Witches in West Africa (AWWA), is scheduled to be staged in the town.
The residents� fear, has been aggravated following some weird happenings in the town since the news broke somewhere last week.
Three people including a middle-aged woman, according to sources, have died under hard-to-believe circumstances in the town in the last four days.
Information available indicates that the hitherto healthy middle-aged woman, passed away shortly after brushing her teeth on Saturday morning.
A seven-bedroom house belonging to a sub-chief and an influential person in the town, sources say, also collapsed and burnt into ashes under strange circumstances on Sunday afternoon.
Against the backdrop of these weird developments, residents who do not want any calamity to befall them are said to be fleeing the town.
A letter purportedly leaked to the media in Kumasi last week and signed by a certain Queen Shabiba indicated that this year�s annual general conference of AWWA had been scheduled to take place at Hyiawu-Besease.
The annual spiritual conference, which is the second to be held in the region in the last two years, is themed: �Operation Blood Galore�.
The week-long conference, according to the letter authored on a letterhead with occultist inscriptions, is targeting the loss of 972,602 lives through fatal road accidents in the Christmas festivities throughout the West African sub-region.
At first, the conference was billed to start on Wednesday, November 25 to December 2, but latest information reaching this paperY GUIDE indicates that it has been postponed to December 15 to December 22.
The letter, which was leaked by an aggrieved witch, noted that Ghana�s share of the blood-letting exercise has been targeted mainly on the Offinso-Techiman and Obuasi-Kumasi roads.
According to the disillusioned witch, she decided to divulge the information because she hails from Ofiinso-Namong and also has relatives at Anwian-Nkwanta on the Obuasi-Kumasi road, which forms part of the designated roads for the blood theatre.
Meanwhile, the local branch of the Ghana Christian Council at Hyiawu-Besease has vowed to stop the intended witches� conference scheduled to be staged in the town.
Commenting on the issue in a telephone interview with B, Rev Agyei Boateng, pastor in charge of the Hyiawu-Besease Methodist Church, said Christians in the town would not allow the planned conference to take place there.
In the light of this, he disclosed that the local branch of the Ghana Christian Council has declared a week-long fasting and prayers to stop the witches from embarking on their mission.
Rev Boateng said he is optimistic that God would listen to their cry and nip the proposed conference in the bud in order to prevent any calamity from befalling the town.
He therefore asked Christians all over the country, particularly those in Ashanti region, to aid them in prayers to ensure that they become victorious in their spiritual battle.
The chief linguist of the town, Nana Kwaku Agyam, has also noted that the traditional council is putting its acts together to do everything possible to stop the witches.
It would be recalled that barely two years ago, a similar conference was scheduled to be held at Juaso in the Asante Akim South of the Ashanti region but was foiled due to the intervention of some pastors.
