Assembly man emerges best farmer at Atwima Mponua

Mr Collins Fordjour, 52-year-old Assembly Member for Dabo Shed Electoral Area, emerged the overall Best Farmer at Atwima Mponua District Farmers' Day celebration at Adobewura. He received a 21-inch television set, a bicycle, a pair of Wellington boot, six cutlasses, a radio set, two pieces of wax prints, spraying machine and mosquito net. A 37-year-old physically disabled, Mr Akwasi Ohemeng of Nyinawusu was adjudged the Best Vegetable Farmer. Twenty one (21) other farmers were also honoured. Each of them had a spraying machine, half piece of wax print, cutlasses, Wellington boot, radio set, and mosquito net. Mrs Theresa Adomako Tawiah, District Chief Executive congratulated the farmers for their hard work and urged them not to relent in their efforts to support food production in the country. She said government had provided 65 motorised machines to the local task force to support cocoa spraying in the district. Mrs Tawiah appealed to the farmers to desist from engaging their children as farm hands at the expense of their education.
