Electrician Caged For Defiling Minor With ‘Juju’

A 30-year-old electrician has been remanded into custody by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling and paralysing a 14-year-old girl.

Emmanuel Ampah allegedly defiled the victim for two years and warned her not to tell anyone or else her brother and mother would die through ‘juju’ he planted in the mother’s room.

The accused person, according to the police, is a friend of the victim’s father and occasionally visited the family at their house at Ashaley Botwe in Accra.

His alleged nefarious activity was uncovered after the victim’s feet swell and was taken to the hospital.

She told the doctor about her alleged defilement by the accused person.

He was arraigned before the court on the charge of defiling a child under 16 years.

He pleaded not guilty and the presiding judge, Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, adjourned the matter to December 14, 2017.

The prosecutor ASP Agnes Boafo told the court that the complainant took the victim to the hospital for a medical check-up after he realised that for about eight months the victim could not walk properly and had paralysed at a point.

The victim told the father that she wanted to scream on the very first day, but the accused threatened her that he had placed a charm (juju) in her mother’s room, which would kill the mother and brother if she screamed.

ASP Agnes narrated that Ampah told the victim’s father that he tried to have sex with the victim on two occasions but admitted fondling the minor.

The matter was subsequently reported to the police and the accused persons was arrested and arraigned before the court.
