Malaika Girls Receive Prizes

Miss Malaika Ghana 2009 was given a final farewell on Thursday, November 26 when the organizers and sponsors officially presented the prizes to the winners at an elaborate cocktail ceremony at Royal Richester Hotel in Accra. The winner of the competition, Ms. Gizelle Addai, received a cheque for GH�4800, which is her annual salary as Miss Malaika Ghana 2009. She also received a GH�1500 promotional contract as an MTN charity icon for the mobile telecommunications company, jewelry from Asanska Jewellery, and a voucher from ABC wax prints. Gizelle, who begins her recently acquired role as the National Youth Ambassador in the fight against malaria, also received a brand new KIA Cerato salon car and sponsor prizes like GH�1200 worth of MTN talk time, a year�s supply of cosmetics and perfumery from Nouvelle Parfumerie Gandour, and a year�s supply of hair extensions from Darling. The occasion, which also brought all 16 finalists together for a fun-filled reunion, saw first runner-up Joan Amorin receive GH�2300 cash; GH�2000 for her coming in second and GH�300 for being voted Miss Congeniality by her colleagues. She also received prizes from the sponsors, including ABC wax prints, cosmetics for UB, and Forever Easy products. Trudy also received GH�1500 cash for coming in third along with other sponsor prizes. The 4th to 10th contestants each received GH�1000 cash, along with other prizes from sponsors. Apart from that, Victoria received GH�300 for winning the talent segment. The 11th - 12th place winners received GH�600 cash, while the 13th-14th place delegates received GH�400. The 15th - 16th place delegates who were evicted first received GH�200 cash. All delegates also received prizes from sponsors. Miss Malaika Ghana 2009, Gizelle, is expected to launch a massive malaria eradication campaign to rival that of her predecessors.
