Prepaid Blues: Sack ECG Boss....Why Is Boakye Agyarko Also Silent? - NDC Communicator Asks

NDC Communicator, Sammy Gyamfi has called on President Nana Akufo-Addo to sack the Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Robert Dwamena with immediate effect.

Sammy Gyamfi, speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo, said the ECG Boss should vacate his office because he has not been able to manage affairs of the company, leaving Ghanaians to be at the receiving end of his incompetence.

His reason was that the current challenge with the purchase of credit for prepaid meters has overburdened custumers and so the ECG Boss remaining in office will only compound the situation.

Since last Sunday, there have been long queues at ECG prepaid meter centers as customers become stranded to buy credit for electricity supply.

The challenge has attracted the wrath of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC). The PURC has demanded the ECG to show cause why why it should not be penalised in the wake of challenges with the purchase of credit for prepaid meters since last Sunday.

This was necessitated by ECG’s failure to comply with a directive from the PURC to submit details of its emergency response measures.

Sammy Gyamfi told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the “ECG Boss should either resign or be sacked because he has failed to resolve the challenges. I am also surprised that Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko, has not made any comments on the issue since it happened”.
