The Ghana Police Service would be collaborating with the National Communication Authority (NCA) to roll out security measures for mobile money vendors who are usually attacked by criminals.
Commissioner of Police (COP) Dr George A. Dampare, Director-General for Operations, said the Police would soon schedule a meeting with the NCA to discuss how best these mobile vendors would be protected.
COP Dampare gave the hint at a Press Briefing in Accra on National Policing Strategies rolled out to maintain law and order before, during and after the festive period.
Mobile Money vendors in recent times have suffered robbery attacks by some criminals. These criminals usually take away daily sales made by these vendors.
When COP Dampare was asked about the details of the security arrangements, he indicated that the details could not be shared but assured the venders that something would be done about their plight.
The Police administration is deploying over 14,200 police personnel to perform operational duties across the country with 18,000 personnel performing traditional police duties which are directly related to the duties for the festive period.
Police Personnel are expected to manage traffic, keep citizens safe from criminal activities, fight against land guards, protect vital installations, engage in community policing and provide security at commercial, street and entertainment centres as well as religious gatherings.
