Police Intercept Car Loaded With Guns And Ammunitions

Police officers at Gambaga Divisional Police Command in the Northern Region have intercepted a Bunkurugu bound Nissan Patrol vehicle with registration number GE 5433-16 loaded with guns and ammunitions.

The six suspects, Fuseini Frank Akar, Jabiuk Nweiny Teku, Haruna, Kwabena Teku, Tahidu Abakli and a woman were arrested by the police recently for allegedly possessing arms.

Today gathered that among the suspects was a young man, Frank Akah Fusheini, believed to be the grandson of a high-profile politician in the Northern Region whose name for security reasons is being withheld.

According to sources at Gambaga Divisional Police Command, the top politician had been invited by the police for questioning.

Speaking in an interview with journalists on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 some senior police officers on condition of anonymity stated that further checks discovered a white sack containing an AK47 assault rifle and 89 rounds of live ammunitions.

They disclosed that the suspects attempted to bribe their way through by offering a huge cash but the police refused and arrested them instantly.

However, Today investigations revealed that some high profile politicians and some Ivorians in Ghana were the ones behind the supply of the weapons to Bunkuruku.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting in investigations.

Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Mr Adusei Sarpong, has confirmed the arrest of the six suspects.
