A new church building for the Covenant Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at La-Nkwantanang in the Ga Presbytery in Accra has been dedicated to the glory of God at the cost of about 3 million Ghana cedis.

The building was funded with contributions from members of the church, through fund raising and contributions from individuals and groups.

Inaugurating the building at a ceremony which was attended by a number of personalities, ministers of the Gospel and worshippers from the Adentan District of the Church, the Acting Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and Presbytery Chairperson for Ga, Rev Dr Victor Okoe Abbey stressed the need for church members to be properly accommodated in a serene atmosphere.

He said the Presbytery would continue to encourage the local congregations to put up similar structures to enable church members to have concentrated minds to serve God well.

Rev Okoe Abbey commended members of the Covenant congregation for putting up the building.

He congratulated the leaders of the project, and encouraged them to continue with their giving spirit for the church to undertake more projects of this nature.

The Acting Moderator called on the congregation to help the resident Minister to maintain the structure.

He said, failure to have regular maintenance would derail all the toil and sweat of members.

Later in a sermon urged Christians to have faith in God so that they could please him.

He encouraged Christians to stop moving from one prayer camp to another but to seek the face of God at all times because he answered prayers of people who had strong faith in him.

Rev Okoe Abbey also urged members of the congregation not only to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, but be doers of the word and must also have faith in God.

He said the church had been given the power to transform society for the better which could only be accomplished if Christians followed the footsteps of Christ.

The minister-in charge of the congregation Rev. Kwaku Amissah in an interview was grateful to the traditional authority for releasing the land for the building and also their contributions to the church over the years.

He commended the church members for their self-help spirit and appealed to them to continue to support the church in diverse ways.

Rev Amissah urged members of the church to be united at all times since that was the only way the church could grow in numbers and infrastructure.

He thanked the chiefs and people of La-Nkwantanang for creating the congenial atmosphere for growth and development of Christianity in the area.
