Work Hard To Lift Ghana's Flags High - Dr. Bawumia Charges Ministers

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic, has urged Regional Ministers and their deputies not to disappoint Ghanaians as in their respective duties.

He advised them saying it is their duty "to ensure the success of all government programmes and projects. And as you do so, you must place special emphasis on the President’s Flagship Projects and Programmes. Ghanaians have amply demonstrated their confidence in this government and we cannot afford to disappoint them".

“I will like to re-iterate that assuming your respective roles as local development Authorities at the Regional Coordinating Councils and the District Assemblies will be fundamental to achieving the developmental agenda of the president.

“We can achieve this by intensifying our activities as a unified front to support H.E the president with hard work, dedication, commitment and sacrifices. Indeed, if we have to move beyond aid, to a self-reliant economy, the onus lies on all of us to harness our efforts, collectively and individually, to meet the demands of the present competitive global market and technological advancement,” Dr. Bawumia added.

Speaking during a conference of Regional ministers and their deputies at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on Friday, December 15, 2017, Dr. Bawumia asked the government appointees to be passionate about achieving success as it is the core vision of President Nana Akufo-Addo and himself (Dr. Bawumia).

“I encourage all of us to work hard on our respective roles towards national interest and objectives as conferred on us by the 1992 Constitution. We must endeavor to understand the backstopping role of the Regional Level in District Governance and effective utilisation of the District Assembly resources.

“This is in consideration of the fact that the national economy is an aggregation of the district economies with the Regional Level as an Interface expected to ensure effective monitoring and co-ordination with high sense of proactive and participatory leadership,” the vice president mentioned.

He believed with a collective effort "rich ideas and support to the government, we will build a prosperous Ghana and lift the flag of this country high. We will indeed look back 60 years from now and hold our heads high up for having played a role in Ghana’s advancement.”

Present at the conference were Otumfuo’s Adontenhene, Nana Adu Gyamfi II serving as Chairman for the occasion.

The conference is scheduled to end on Saturday, December 16, 2017.
