Ghanaian Teacher Shortlisted For Global Prize

A Ghanaian Teacher by name Sitsofe Anku has been shortlisted for the one million dollar Global teacher price award.

The teachers were selected from five African countries.

They have been included in top 50 Varkey Foundation Global teacher price, the largest of its kind .

They are Ayodele Odeogbola, Ogun, and Itodo Anthony, from Nigeria; Marjirie Brown and Wendy Horn from South Africa, Catherine Nakabugo from Uganda, Abdikadir Ismail from Kenya and Sitsofe Enyonam Anku from Ghana made it to the shortlist.

The seven were selected from over 30,000 nominations and 173 countries across the globe .

The Global teacher prize was set up by the Varkey foundation to recognize that exceptional teacher who has contributed to the profession.

The report stated that “By unearthing thousands of stories of heroes that have transformed young people’s lives, the prize hopes to bring to life the exceptional work of millions of teachers all over the world,”
