It’s Marathon Race – Nana Declares In Kumasi

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given an assurance that there would be abundance of jobs for the citizenry in the coming year and has therefore advised Ghanaians to exercise a little restraint.

According to the president, all campaign promises that he made to Ghanaians prior to the 2016 elections would be fulfilled in due time for the people to experience improvement in their lives.

President Akufo-Addo said the electorate have given his administration a first-term of four years to deliver, and he would make sure that every promise he made is fulfilled to the letter.

“Our race is not a sprint, it is a marathon, so I will carefully lead this administration to develop the country to the level that we are all hoping for,” the president gave the assurance when he was addressing New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates during Sunday’s conference in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.

The programme was attended by the crème-de-la-crème in the ruling party across the country and abroad; and they used the event to deliberate on proposed amendments of the NPP constitution to make the party stronger.

Ailing Economy

According to President Akufo-Addo, the NPP government inherited an economy which was sick and almost on the brink of collapse, due to mismanagement by John Dramani Mahama’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

He however, stated that the team of competent individuals that he had appointed into his government had worked assiduously within a short period of one year to bring renaissance into the economy once again.

According to the Ghanaian leader, all that is needed to be done to help bring life into the economy had been done perfectly by his administration; therefore the grounds are fertile for jobs and wealth creation in 2018.

“We inherited a bankrupt economy from our predecessors, but due to the ingenuity of quality personnel that I appointed into the government, we have been able to find solutions to the myriad of problems that we inherited.

“The foundation has now been laid for the creation of jobs for our people in the coming year…,” he assured, adding that he is aware that the people are hankering for jobs all over the country.

NPP Achievements

President Akufo-Addo, who was brimming with confidence, stated emphatically that his government had chalked massive achievements within twelve months in office.

According to him, some key party promises that some people thought were impossible to achieve, such as the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, had been rolled out and several Ghanaian children are benefiting from it.

He also stated that the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which almost went dead due to the erstwhile NDC government’s poor management style, “is also being revived by the NPP administration.”

He announced that the agricultural sector is also booming, especially with the introduction of the ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ programme.

Vice President Dr. Bawumia and his wife, Samira; Education Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, national, regional and constituency executives of the NPP and all other major stakeholders were at the function.
