Ghana announces participation in "Dow Live Earth" Walk

Ghana has announced its participation in this year's edition of "Dow Live Earth" Walk aimed at combating global water crisis. National Sports For all Association of Ghana (NASFAAG), representing Ghana on Tuesday confirmed their participation in the event to be held on Sunday, April 18, 2010 simultaneously in 39 international cities across the World. John Aduakwa, Chairman of NASFAAG, at the launch of the event in Accra on Tuesday, said that the Walk consist of a six-km exercise that would take place over 24-hours in countries around the world. He said the event is also to enhance water education activities aimed at igniting a tipping point to help solve the global water crisis. Mr Aduakwa explained that NASFAAG's Dow Live Earth 6-km for Water event will commence at 06h00 GMT from the Independence Square in Accra where participants will unite together as part of the global effort to solve the critical issue affecting nearly one-eighth of the world's population. He added that the event will serve as a catalyst to rally the world community around the critical issue of water scarcity and empower citizens to be part of the solution. Mr Charles Aryeh, Chief Administrative Officer of the National Sports Council (NSC) expressed his outfit's support for the event, especially with the essential nature of water.
