Farmer convicted for strangling a pregnant goat

Kwame Job, a farmer at Assin Foso who stole a pregnant sheep, strangled it and took it home to eat, has been fined GH240.00 by a District Magistrate's Court at Assin Foso. Job, who pleaded guilty to stealing and cruelty to an animal, will go to jail for nine months if he fails to pay the fine. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Sam Asamoah told the court presided over by Mr. Joseph Blay that in the early hours of April 7, this year, Job stole and strangled the goat. He said upon a tip-off, he was arrested and charged with the offence. The court, however, said it could not order the payment of any restitution because the owner of the goat could not be identified.
