The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has taken delivery of medical equipment worth over US$500,000 to help raise the quality of services to patients.
These include X-Ray equipment, electrocardiogram machines, temperature sensors, blood tubing sets, surgical clippers, drapes, laboratory pressure infusers, personal care items and equipment boxes.
They are a joint donation from ZAKAT Foundation of Ghana, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and the Children of Abraham, a US-based group.
Mr Salia Alhassan, ZAKAT Country Director, handing over the items to the Management of KATH, said this was their contribution towards efforts at making the facility a "centre of excellence."
He said he was confident that these would go a long way to bring some relief to patients, especially the poor and the needy.
Mr Alhassan said the Foundation would continue to assist the facility with the needed working tools.
Professor Ohene Adjei, Chief Executive of KATH, said they were grateful for the support and gave the assurance that they would be handled with care to make them durable.
