Black Queens And Super Falcons To Renew Ghana, Nigeria Rivalry In WAFU Semis
Ghana's Black Queens are set to face off with the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone B women's tournament after they finished second and first respectively in their Groups at the on-going tournament in Abidjan.
The two teams look set to renew the long standing rivalry between the two football giants in West Africa when they clash in the first semi-final game on Thursday, at the Parc des Sports in Treichville, Abidjan.
While Ghana's Black Queens after beating Burkina Faso 4-1 finished second to Cote d'Ivoire in Group B to secure a spot in the final four last Sunday, the Super Falcons of Nigeria maintained the top spot in Group A after their second-string team won 3-1 against Togo in the final group game Sunday.
Mali, brought in as a last minute replacement for Benin, finished second in Group A and will play hosts, Cote d'Ivoire in the other semi-final game.
Both matches will be played at Parc des Sports on Thursday at 4:30pm and 7:00pm respectively.
