PNC Commends President

The Volta Regional Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Mr Emmanuel Freeman Azinogo, has commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for showing good leadership in the appointment of people to some crucial state institutions.

He said Parliament’s recent endorsement of Mr Martin Amidu as the Special Prosecutor was a clear testimony of the dispassionate and non-partisan style of appointing people of integrity to serve the interest of the state.

Mr Azinogo expressed these sentiments to the Daily Graphic in Ho last Wednesday and said the President had demonstrated several overtures in the past and indeed appointed two key members of PNC, namely Mr Abu Ramadan as the deputy national director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and Alhaji Ramadan as Ghana’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

High marks

He also said the government of the day had scored high marks in connection with its mediaton role in the rumpus between the government of the Republic of Togo and 14 opposition parties and that it was a mark of good leadership which could guarantee assurance to the people in the country and sub-region of a government that was tolerable and open to divergent views.

He further said the government’s ability to implement the free senior high school policy in the first term of governance was an indelible achievement because in the past no government had been able to fulfill any of the promises made to the people in their first term of office but the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government had been able to achieve that enviable feat.

Turning to the Volta Region, Mr Azinogo said the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, had performed so well that his name was mentioned in the recent state of the nation address unlike other regional ministers, adding that such appointed persons should be encouraged to continue their work as unifiers and mentors for the rapid development of the region.
