3 Teenagers Arrested For Burgling Retiree

Three teenagers, all aged 17, have been arrested by the Dansoman Police for allegedly breaking into the room of a retired civil servant on three occasions to steal his personal effects. The suspects are in police custody assisting in investigations. Briefing the Times yesterday, the Dansoman District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Wilson Aniagyei, said last year, the three allegedly broke into the room of the complainant, Mr. John Kofi Quainoo and took away GH�3,000 cash, a portable DVD player, video deck, video game, sets of jewellery, a torch light, two wrist watches and a laptop. ASP Aniagyei quoted Mr. Quainoo as saying that the thefts often occurred on Sundays when he had gone to church. He said on November 15, this year, Mr. Quainoo again reported another theft in which a video deck valued at GH�120 was stolen. Following the complaints, he said plain clothed police were dispatched to Mr. Quainoo�s house to keep surveillance and last Tuesday morning, the three teenagers were arrested while they were attempting to burn the window netting of Mr. Quainoo�s house. ASP Aniagyei said when police searched the room of the suspects; they found the laptop that was stolen earlier from the victim�s room. The boys allegedly admitted the offence saying that they had shared the GH�3,000 and sold some of the items.
