AMA Supports Korle-Bu Patients

The Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, has presented a cheque of GH17,000 to two patients at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. The presentation of the cheque by the AMA boss to the two patients was based on appeals by TV3 and Radio Gold for the public to come to the aid of two children who are in dire need of financial assistance in order to successfully undergo surgery for their hole-in-heart diseases. During the presentation, Mr. Vanderpuije said that in the spirit of the New Accra for a Better Ghana, the AMA needs to demonstrate how much it cares and is sensitive to the plight of the public, particularly children. He said the health and education of children and the entire development of Accra are priorities to the Assembly. Mr. Vanderpuije said people should learn to express love and care for one another, not only in words but also with action. The AMA in the New Accra for a Better Ghana is committed to improving our health services, improve our education services for children, upgrade our communities and create jobs for the youth, he said. He therefore appealed to the public, business community, churches and individuals to try to do more to help the poor. Dr. Appiadu Mensah, head of the Paediatric Department, received the cheque on behalf of the patients and commended the AMA boss for his kind gesture.
