TTC To Enforce Ban On Noise Making

The Tema Traditional Council (TTC) has formed a taskforce to enforce the observation of this year's ban on drumming and noise making.

The taskforce made up of Asafoatsemei ans Asafoanyemei (traditional warriors ) would move to every part of the Tema Tradional Area to ensure strict compliance to the ban.

Mr Jeff Nii Adjei Lomo, TTC Registrar, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday.

Mr Lomo said the ban which would commence on April 20 and end on May 11, 2018 covers all the Tema main communities, Ashaiman, Zenu, Kubekro, Saasabi, Sakumono and Adjei-Kojo.

"To avoid any confrontation with the taskforce, the Tema Stool is entreating everybody to adhere strictly to this directive for only three weeks", he stated.

He added that individuals and groups in the area were expected not to engage in noisy activities such as playing of musical instruments, clapping, whistling and singing, among others.

The Registrar said a customary punishment to be determined by the Wulomei and Woyei (traditional priests) of the area would be given to those found culpable.

The ban on drumming and drumming and noise making is declared annually by the traditional leaders as preperations towards the celebration of the annual Homowo festival.
