Brigade executives sworn into office

The newly elected executives of the Greater Accra Regional branch of the Boys Brigade were on Sunday sworn into office at an induction service held at the Mount Zion Methodist Church in Accra. The 13 member executive, with Mr Seth Acquaye as the Chairman, would serve a four year term. The members were drawn from Brigade affiliate churches such as the Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church and the AME Zion Church. Delivering the sermon, Reverend Ampiah Bonney Jnr., Diocesan Youth Organizer, praised the members of the Boys Brigade for the peaceful manner in which they conducted their elections. He bemoaned the level of indiscipline that was gradually creeping into the various brigades and urged the new officers to quickly address the issue since the church would not want to invest in a society that would not bring any profit. "Brigades were formed in order to help inculcate discipline in the youth and the church and it breaks my heart to know that this number one aim for the formation of brigades is dying slowly," He said. He appealed to the executive to eschew all forms of rivalry between the Boys and the Girls Brigade since rivalry, which bred jealousy, was not accepted by God. He appealed to all Christians to celebrate the Christmas in a way that would glorify God and also expect Him to fulfill all His promises concerning their lives. Mr Quaye, in an acceptance speeh, thanked members in the region for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to work assiduously for the betterment of the Greater Accra Boys Brigade. He also pledged the preparedness of the executive to work out formalities to tackle the level of indiscipline creeping into the folds of the Boys Brigade.
