Akua Donkor Goes To Supreme Court! …Using High Court Forms

Yesterday, news emerged that the Founder and Leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Madam Akua Donkor has filed a suit dated 20 June 2018 at the Supreme Court naming the Attorney General and Minister for Justice Gloria Akuffo as the defendant.

Madam Akua Donkor is seeking an order from the Supreme Court directing the defendant to advise the President of the Republic of Ghana and his Vice president to step aside from the highest seats of the land since their names were mentioned in the ‘Number 12’ corruption video.

She has allegedly sued the Attorney General to compel the president and Vice president to step down, because they were mentioned in the Anas video, Number 12 Interestingly, Akua Donkor and her unnamed lawyer used High Court forms (Form 1) of the High Court Civil (Procedure) Rules, known in the trade as C147, instead of coming under the Supreme Court rules (C116) to file her suit. It remains to be seen what the Supreme Court would make of this point.

In one of life’s many ironies, it was Madam Akua Donkor who claimed in August 2016 that former President John Dramani Mahama had gifted two Toyota Prado vehicles to her, Akua Donkor, to compound this massive gaffe at the time, later said that she lied about the two Pajero vehicles and a house allegedly given her by Mahama, because she wanted to spite the progressive people’s party flagbearer , Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom.

“I acquired those properties on my own, but I have intentionally credited Mahama for purchasing them for me because of what Nduom did to me some time ago.

When Nduom took his Tundra Vehicle from me, he categorically told me I should go to Mahama to give me vehicles. That is why I’m doing this,” she told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on kasapa 102.5 FM Monday.

Akua Donkor had, in August 2016, claimed in an interview with Adom FM’s Kofi Adoma Wawani that she received two cars from President Mahama.

Akua DOnkor claimed she was given two Mitsubishi Pajeros and a decent house also built for her by the President after Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom took his Tundra vehicle from her.

But the lady politician later made a u-turn on such claims on Kasapa denying ever receiving those properties from Mahama.

In her statement of claims writ, plaintiff says the issues raised by the former Ghana FA boss in the Number 12 video are daily occurrences in the country and therefore are very true and must not be swept under the carpet.

According to the Kumasi-based farmer and politician, after she watched the investigative piece by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, it was obvious that, President Akufo Addo and his Vice President Bawumia, were highly involved in the issues put across by the former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

She further stated that for the investigations being conducted to be fair and unbiased, there is the need for both the President and the Vice President to step down from their post “before the truth is revealed since their names were mentioned in the said corruption video.”

Plaintiff avers that in the said video Kwesi Nyantakyi made it clear to the supposed investor how much could be given to several government contracts if he pays bribes to some key government officials such as Nana Addo, the president of the republic of  Ghana and his vice president Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.

Plaintiff further avers that both President Akufo Addo and vice president Dr Bawumia have relied on investigations by Anas to sanction officials in the past and the latest is no exception and should be used to sanction all officials name in the documentary.

The plaintiff is also of the view that corruption is at its highest peak in the country that is why Kwesi Nyantakyi commented that they will take over the whole country since he is much aware, that the President of the Republic of Ghana and his vice president and some of their top political leaders are all part of the corruption.

She also wants all other works of the investigative journalist which has to do with corruption to be investigated and culprits name in them punished.

She is, therefore, praying the court to compel or order the Attorney-General to advise President Akufo Addo and his vice president Dr. Bawumia to step down from their seats to allow fair investigations to be conducted since their names were mentioned in the said video
