INFORMATION gathered by DAILY GUIDE indicates that a 17- year-old girl (name withheld) has been admitted at the Atebubu Government Hospital after two friends, Nana Poku, and Nana Kofi, had raped her in their house.
The victim is currently suffering from severe pains; she can neither eat nor sleep according to doctors. Doctors have to operate on her to save her life; she is still on admission.
Speaking with reporters at Atebubu from her hospital bed, she narrated the ordeal she went through at the hands of the two friends. According to her, she and her younger sister were asked by the two friends to go and cook, sweep and weed for them in their house.
She narrated: “After the work, one of them, Nana Poku, forced me to drink alcohol and dragged me to a certain room where Nana Kofi was already hiding. He locked the door and his friend forcibly had sex with me. My shout for help couldn’t save me. It was my sister who ran away and informed some residents who later came to rescue me”.
Nana Poku has been arrested but Nana Kofi, who is said to be above 37 years, is on the run.
The girl, who is being trained as a dressmaker, has since become bed ridden at the Atebubu Government Hospital.
Mother of the girl, Afia Redwe, told newsmen that her daughter was suffering from excruciating pains and could not eat or sleep. She appealed to the Inspector General of Police, the Gender Ministry and the Chief Justice to intervene for her daughter to receive justice.
Atebubu Divisional Police Commander, ACP Akomeah, confirmed the rape case to newsmen and said the suspects would be arraigned before court to face prosecution.
