Four teenagers have been mistakenly shot by a hunter at Ahansonyewodea, a suburb of Obuasi, in Ashanti Region in the early hours of Tuesday. The boys were shot when they went on a dawn hunting expedition for snails at Abompe in Obuasi.

The boys were mistaken to be armed robbers. The hunter is said to have been terrorized by robbers anytime he goes to his farm and was forced to shoot the boys for fear of being attacked.

One of the victims who spoke to Adom News  said they are not robbers but have been in the snail business for some time to support their education.

“My father is not working. I go for snails hunt to get money to pay for my printing fees. We go for the snails at Abompe and so we can never be robbers”, the victim cried out.

He said the two were hit with bullets in the waist, buttocks, and legs.


The two whose names were immediately not known are in critical condition at the emergency unit of the AngloGold Health Foundation at Obuasi.
