Mills' Family Threatens To Exhume Body For Reburial In Hometown

Family of the late President of the Republic, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills has threatened to exhume the body of the late former President for reburial if the state refuses to honour the up keep of the 'Asomdwe Park', where he was buried.

According to them, they cannot continue to bear the responsibility of keeping the burial site of the former statesman.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, family Head, Siisi Crentsil explained that the 'Asomdwe Park' where the former statesman was buried has become a subject of ridicule for the family and the state.

Koku Anyidoho's Cry

The culture of maintenance has remained a major challenge in safeguarding state properties in the country and 'Asomdwe Park' where late President Professor John Evans Atta Mills was buried 6 years ago is no exception to this culture.

The President of the Republic of Ghana died while in office and the place he was buried has nothing good to report about as the 'Asomdwe Park' is bushy and a habitat for many animals.

Discussing how the 6 years memorial service for the late President will be observed, the Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho who served the late President directly bemoaned the state of the 'Asomdwe Park', where his former boss was buried.

He described the place as an eyesore, as the 'Asomdwe Park' which is the responsibility of the government to keep it clean and neat has been abandoned and left in the care of wild animals.

“We will hire people to tidy up the Asomdwe Park if the government gives the park to me, but for as long as it remains the property of the State, let the State take up its responsibility. That is all I can say but I am very sad this morning,” he bemoaned.
