On the 7th of January, 2017, the fifth President of the 4th Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was sworn in.

Akufo-Addo sought to stand out from all other past leaders, calling on Ghanaians to be involved in the running of the country — famously calling on us to be ‘citizens, not spectators’.

One person trying his hardest to adhere to being a citizen and not a spectator is musician A Plus, who points out wrongdoing wherever he sees it, whether in his own adopted party or not.

However, his advocacy has often landed him in trouble with a couple of NPP appointees suing him for his fiery attacks on them.

A Plus has posted on social media addressing the President and asking him why his attempts to be a citizen and not a spectator is landing him in trouble with the NPP.

"I know you have no doubt in your mind that I am your number one fan. I believe in you and trust your judgement. At your inauguration in 2017, you asked that we be citizens and not spectators. Just about 18 months into your presidency, some of your appointee take citizens to court seeking an injunction to preventing us from asking basic questions. In other words some of your appointees are asking us to be spectators contrary to your request.
Now that you are asking us to follow our President, please, in all humility, can you kindly tell us how you want us to follow our President? Should we just shut up and follow or we can ask questions, critisize, share our opinion and demand our right to free speech and administrative justice? I know what you stand for. I'm not asking this because I don't know what your answer will be. I honestly know and believe that you may not agree with what your opponents or some supporters say about you, however you will defend to death their right to free speech. I just want you to remind your appointees.... With love... Kwame"
