The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture is set to engage over 150,000 youth in its flagship programme, the Marine Drive Project.
The sector Minister, Mrs Catherine Abelema Afeku, who made this known, said aside reinvigorating and transforming the face of the tourism and hospitality industry, the project, would also help to reduce the unemployment situation in the country.
Speaking at her turn at the ongoing National Policy Summit in Kumasi, Mrs, Afeku pointed out that, both skilled and unskilled youth would be employed when the project was completed.
The Marine Drive Tourism Project, which seeks to transform the country’s beaches into modern hospitality haven, is one of the priority projects of the NPP government.
The 2018 National Policy Summit, which is being organized by the Ministry of Information, is under the theme “assessing the growth, jobs and prosperity agenda”.
Mrs Afeku stated that aside economic benefits and improvement of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the project was going to revamp the creative arts, craft and the music sector.
She said the government was committed to promoting the country’s tourism sector to increase its contribution to the growth of the economy.
The Minister urged Ghanaians to recognise their own and take pride in what they have and at the same time, encourage foreigners to enjoy what was in Ghana.
