‘Amissah-Arthur‘S Wife Has A Point, Don’t Condemn Her’ – MP

Member of Parliament for Gomoa West Constituency, Alexander Abban has asked Ghaanaians to desist from criticizing wife of former Vice President, Matilda Amissah-Arthur for her tribute which some have suggested, was targeted at some persons who had gathered to pay final respects to her late husband.

Matilda Amissah-Arthur, in her tribute said she had been amazed by the number of people who had shown her love, following the passing of her husband, but not for the right reasons.

“I asked myself, is this Ghana? Are all these people in Ghana because the maligning, the lies, the treachery, the wickedness, the deliberately changing things so that you could look better than others.”

Mr. Abban on Citi TV/ FM’s News Analysis Programme, The Big Issue indicated Mrs. Amissah Arthur’s comments were not far from reality.

He believes her tribute emphasizes the need for an introspection on human relations.

“His wife had to speak her mind and that has been the Ghanaian culture within the political space. We should look at the strengths we can bring to bear when we are doing this kind of politics and in fact it is not only inter-party, but also intra-party.

“I have heard people trying to condemn her but I do not think so. We should do some form of introspection and see what kind of things we do to each other when the person has life and what we say when the person has given up the ghost.”

Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga expressed similar sentiments, saying “I can understand the widow and the way she spoke yesterday. I do not think anybody should condemn her, that will be very sad to do.”
