4 Cleared For Ashanti NDC Chair

Four people, including former Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Joseph Yamin, have been cleared to vie for the Ashanti Regional Chairmanship position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The rest are Kwadwo Adu Gyamfi, Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi, a businessman and TK Braimah, a former candidate.

The opposition party is set to vet 56 people who aspiring for various positions.

Regional Secretary, Raymond Tandoh, who is a member of the vetting committee, said the exercise is expected to be completed on August 3, 2018, which would be followed by the elections.

He told DAILY GUIDE that the final list of candidates would be released later.

According to him, eight candidates, namely Alhaji Sannie Abdulai, Martin Asamoah Atuahene, Kwame Adarkwa, Alhaji Ssualihu Musah, Ama Sarpomaa, Nana Prempeh Amankwaa, Mike Amedor and Alex Sawyer Attivor were also cleared to vie for the vice chairmanship positions yesterday.

The NDC Regional Secretary disclosed that Sumaila Ali Futa was given the green light to go unopposed for the Zongo Caucus post, adding that three people – Juliet Akua Takyiwaa, Hajara Sadick and Gloria Huze – would contest for the position of Women’s Organiser.

Three other women, Agatha Opoku Agyemang, Mary Awusi and Francisca Adu Yeboah will have their names on the ballot for the Deputy Women’s Organiser position, he added.

Mr. Tandoh said today three people- Evans Amankwah, Kwame Zu and Ofori Agyemang Boadi, who are in the race for Ashanti Regional Secretary position, would be vetted.

Mathew Kojo Njourkone, Samuel Duku Sarfo, Mohammed Awal  Swallah and Charles Agyemang, who are aspiring for the Deputy Secretary post, would also face the vetting committee.

Opoku Karikari, Marvin Philip, and Hopeson Keku for the treasurer position, and Prince Atta, Alex Yaw Opoku, and Ahmed Rufai who are vying for the Deputy Treasurer position, would appear before the committee.

Mr. Tando stated that Osman Abdullah and Francis Dodovi, who are contesting for the Youth Organiser position, would be vetted on the same day.

They would be joined by Onasis Rosely, Christian Barabu, Hajara Mohammed, Mohammed Lut, Seth Atanga Akyiriwuti and Michael Kwadwo Peprah, who are vying for the Deputy Youth Organiser position.

The last group of people would appear before the vetting committee on Friday.

They are Isham Alhassan, Abass Mubarak Abass, Godwin Bobobee, Asiedu Keteke, Justice H.A Alpha and Nana Asare Bediako.

The rest are Joe Tetteh, Robert Owusu Tilton, Baba Ahmed Mohammed, Bashiru Amissah D, Abdul Latif Abdullai, all for the Deputy Organiser post.

Anane Solomon, Donkor Fuseini, and Abass Nurudeen Adams, who are gunning for the Communication Officer position, would also appear before the vetting committee.
