Capital Bank's Collapse: "This Is Otabil's Punishment For Hating On Mahama” – Appiah Stadium

A known National Democratic Congress (NDC) serial caller, Frank Kwaku Appiah, affectionately called Appiah Stadium is in seventh heaven.

His source of happiness?

That, Dr. Mensa Otabil, Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), is going through some very trying moments.

To him, the renowned man of God is the “most awful” person he has ever come across over the years.

Dr Otabil has come under intense public criticism following a leaked Bank of Ghana report suggesting that he may have been party to the misuse of an amount GHC610m from the Central Bank meant for liquidity support for the defunct bank, but was diverted.

He and his management team have been accused of using the Central Bank's liquidity support meant to salvage the then struggling bank to open new businesses which also failed.

The celebrated man of God has however broken his long silence on the matter, subtly denying his involvement in the woes that have befallen the financial institution in a carefully and professionally worded press statement issued Tuesday.

In his first public reaction to the development, Dr Mensa Otabil said his role as the chairman of the bank’s board was a non-executive one hence he was not involved in the daily management and operations of the bank.

But speaking in an interview on NEAT FM’s ‘Ghana Montie’ Morning show, the staunch NDC activist stated “I am happy he [Dr Mensa Otabil] is in trouble. This man portrayed himself to be the most sensible person in Ghana with his generational thinkers’ message. He is indeed terrible.”
