Spio-Garbrah Composes 3 Songs To Rebrand NDC For 2020 (Audio)

A flag bearer aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, has observed that the NDC cannot win the 2020 election with the corruption and incompetence tag on the party.

He said it was the perception of corruption and incompetence, which was championed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), that caused the massive defeat of the NDC in 2016.

He, therefore, stressed the need for the NDC to employ rebranding techniques to clear the perception of corruption and incompetence around the party and position it to annex power in 2020.

Dr Spio-Garbrah told Graphic Online that with his experience in local and international marketing, he would be able to couch the necessary messages, slogans and songs to erase the negative perception and create a positive image for the party to enable it to win the 2020 election.

Besides, he said, he did not have any corruption tag around him in his public and private service, which made him the suitable candidate to create an incorruptible face for the NDC going into the next election.

He, therefore, urged NDC delegates to give him the mandate to lead the party to snatch power from the NPP in the 2020 election.

"The main challenge facing the NDC in the 2020 election is how to rebrand the party, which the NPP had labelled as corrupt and incompetent", he said.

Dr Spio-Garbrah was expressing his thoughts about the future of the NDC on his return from a tour of eight constituencies in the Ashanti and Eastern regions.

The constituencies he visited are Asante Akim, Subin, Manhyia North, Joaso, Asokwa, Asokore and Konongo, all in the Ashanti Region, and Nkawkaw Constituency in the Eastern Region.

During the visit, he had separate meetings with NDC executive members and communicators. He also called Omanhene of Ejisu, Nana Oguakro Afrane Okese IV.

New songs and slogans

Meanwhile, Dr Spio-Garbrah said he had composed three songs which tout the achievements of the NDC and its potential to repeat the feats when given another mandate to govern the country.

He gave renditions of the songs during the interview, which he said he had sangduring his interactions with the party executive members and communicators.

He had also couched three slogans aimed at urging the electorate to vote out NPP and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo out of power in 2020.

The slogans are: "NPP, One Term", "Akufo-Addo, One Term" and "NDC, We are Coming Back".

Catchy policies

Dr Spio-Garbrah said another cause of defeat of NDC was the fact that the party concentrated on its achievements and failed to inform Ghanaians of future projects and programmes.

He said the NPP, on the other hand, couched catchy policies, such as "One District, One Factory", "One Village, One Dam" and "Free SHS", which had endeared the party to the electorate.

Dr Spio-Garbrah said when NDC delegates elected him to lead the party, he could sit with party leadership to come up with comprehensive and catchy policies and programmes to sell the NDC to make it more attractive to Ghanaians.
