Otiko Rejects New Appointment...Resigns From Active Politics

The Gender and Social Protection Minister, Otiko Afisa Djaba has decided to leave 'active politics' and enjoy 'life' with her family.

The Minister was one of the casualties in a recent reshuffle by President Akufo-Addo. She was appointed as an Ambassador to Italy.

However, in an interview with the Daily Graphic, Monday, Otiko disclosed that she had resigned from active politics and has decided to turn down the appointment.

“At 56 years, I want to relax and enjoy my family and life and, therefore, I am not ready to take up the appointment as Ambassador to Italy,” she said.

Apart from that she is going to take care of her ex-husband who had stroke for the past six years; adding, “I am the one who has been taking care of him since he got sick and I cannot abandon him now”

Meanwhile, her decision has been made official in a letter to the President. She has also handed over to the Minister of Planning, Professor George Gyan-Baffour.
