Otiko Yet To Communicate Exit From Active Politics To NPP – John Boadu

Ex-Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba is yet to officially communicate her decision to quit active politics to the New Patriotic Party, according to General Secretary John Boadu.

All notices of her decision, according to the party scribe, have come via media reports.

Otiko shocked many when in an exclusive interview with the Daily Graphic published on Tuesday, said she had had enough of politics and was quitting to provide care for her indisposed husband.

She had in effect turned down a recent appointment by President Akufo-Addo to head Ghana’s Embassy in Italy as ambassador. The appointment came along with President Akufo-Addo’s first ministerial reshuffle.

But John Boadu told Accra FM Thursday that the party was officially unaware of her decision but would respect her desires.

Mr. Boadu intimated that Otiko was enlightened enough to make her own decisions to which she has her rights. The party therefore can respond appropriately should any formal notices be served it.

He debunked media claims of a meeting at the presidency said to have been attended by President Akufo-Addo, NPP chairman Freddie Blay and he John Boadu, ostensibly to query Otiko for allegedly disobeying a directive by President Akufo-Addo, saying “it’s a big lie”.
