STATEMENT: Why I Resigned As Deputy Minister

Deputy Minister for the Eastern Region, Joseph Tetteh has resigned.

In a letter signed by him to the President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo, and copied to Peacefmonline.com, Hon. Tetteh resigned due to challenges with him playing dual role as a Member of Parliament for Krobo Manya constituency and Deputy Eastern Regional Minister.

"The demands of my work as a Deputy Minister has been both challenging and equally rewarding. I have witnessed at first hand the commitment of all appointees and executives in the region to push your agenda for change and I take this opportunity to convey my thanks to them for the support afforded me in the discharge of my duties.

"...I have therefore decided, in the best interest of the party and given the onerous demands of combining both duties as a Deputy Minister and Parliamentarian, particularly for a constituency, whose seat is nascent to our party, to respectfully seek your kind indulgence to tender my resignation, with immediate effect. I am of the humble view that redirecting my energies and focus on my Parliamentary duties will inure to the benefit of the party as well as myself", he stated in the letter.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has appointed Mr. Samuel Ayertey, a lecturer at Koforidua Technical University, as Deputy Minister-designate for the Region.
