Customers of First Allied Savings and Loans stormed the various branches of the bank in Kumasi, Ashanti Region on Monday, 3 September 2018, to demand their savings.

Numbering over 500, the customers besieged the bank’s branches at Adum, Asafo, Roman Hill and Suame Magazine among other branches, to withdraw their savings but were left stranded.
 
The aggrieved customers later stormed the office of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) at Adum with a petition to plead with the apex bank to intervene in the matter but managers refused to collect the petition and rather directed them to go to their head office in Accra. 

Wearing red arm bands and looking unhappy with the response by the BoG branch in Kumasi, they proceeded to the Regional Coordinating Council to petition the Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah.
 
The petition was received by the Regional Security Coordinator, Mr Opare Addo, on behalf of the Regional Minister with a promise to deliver it to him for onward action.

The aggrieved customers told Adehye FM's Elisha Adarkwah that they have been turned away by the First Allied Savings and Loans on several occasions and unable to withdraw their hard-earned savings for the past three months without any tangible reason from the microfinance company.

The aggrieved customers said they were promised by staff of the bank that they will get their monies on Monday. However, they did not get their monies when they went to the offices of the microfinance on Monday morning.

 
"They left us stranded at their offices as the staff looked unconcerned irrespective of their promise for us to come today for our money", a customer bemoaned.
 
They have, therefore, pleaded with the BoG and President Nana Akufo- Addo to intervene on their behalf.
