This Is Why Kojo Bonsu Is Contesting NDC Flagbearership – Joshua Akamba Reveals

Deputy National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Joshua Hamidu Akamba, believes former KMA Boss, Mr. Kojo Bonsu's decision to contest for the flagbearership slot of the party is probably borne out of anger.

Speaking on Okay fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" programme, he explained that he was shocked to hear that Mr. Kojo Bonsu was joining the race to contest for the flagbearership race.

The former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the KMA declared his intention to contest the flagbearership race of the NDC over the weekend.

He joins other party stalwarts such as former President John Dramani Mahama, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies (UPSA), Prof. Joshua Alabi and eight (8) other aspirants in their quest to lead the NDC in the next general elections.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings today (Friday), gave a hint about Mr. Bonsu’s intent by posting a message on Twitter after receiving him at his residence in Accra.

He described Mr. Bonsu as an individual with a “determined” spirit and further wished him well.

Mr Bonsu is expected to make an official announcement by Wednesday 03rd October, 2018 at a press conference.

Joshua Akamba, who is aspiring for the National Organiser position, however, appears to have abandoned his close pal at the crossroads in his latest crusade.

"You know when we started the Unity Walk and other processes of bringing our party together, Mr. Kojo Bonsu never talked about his intention to contest..."

"He was even asked by some party executives in the Upper West Region if he had any plans of contesting for any position within the party prior to the Unity Walk which he flatly denied. So his decision to contest came as surprise to me and i immediately called Kwesi Pratt who i hear he respects so much to talk to him to rescind his decision.

"But for the statement that allegedly came from him, i can authoritatively tell you that it is fake and that some people are behind that statement. The Kojo Bonsu i know will not write such a statement," he added.

Pure Betrayal

Mr Kojo Bonsu - who before his shocking announcement - was working in concert with Mr Akamba in the party’s Unity Walks which many claimed was a move to fly the kite about the intention of former President John Dramani Mahama, was believed to be working in the interest of the former President.

Following his official announcement on Friday, the National Organiser Aspirant has dissociated himself from him and disclosed that he has no knowledge or hand in whatever decision he is making

I must confess, that I have been taken aback by this traitorous, self-seeking and wicked hidden Agenda by Kojo Bonsu and wish to emphatically indicate, that I Joshua Hamidu Akamba, has absolutely nothing to do with this self-centered Agenda,” he said.
