Is Education Minister Untouchable? Deal With Him For Neglecting Tempane SHS - Akamba Tells Akufo-Addo

Deputy National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Joshua Akamba says President Akufo-Addo should sanction the Minister of Education, Matthew Opoku Prempeh and the Member of Parliament for Tempane, Joseph Dindiock Kpemka for abandoning Tempane Senior High School in the Upper East Region.

In an interview on Peace FM's 6pm News Bulletin, Joshua Akamba burst into anger asking why the government has not taken any punitive action against the two leaders after his visit to the school which revealed the seemingly poor conditions of the students.

Joshua Akamba who is vying to become the substantive National Organizer of the party, is recently seen in a viral video seemingly inciting some students of Tempane Senior High School against the Akufo-Addo administration.

He was seen leading the students to hoot at President Akufo-Addo and the Member of Parliament for Tempane, Joseph Dindiock Kpemka, over some challenges their school is facing and further claiming the economy is on the verge of collapse under the incumbent government.

Explaining his mission to the school, Mr. Akamba said he was on a campaign tour in the Region and passing by the school found the students in deplorable state, demanding help from him.

“The students saw the stickers on my car and amidst shouts blocked the way. So, I got off the car and they tearfully asked me to give them just 1 cedi for food because they’re suffering. It was even raining and some were standing in it, so I reached out to them,” he said.

He denied inciting the students against the incumbent government but went berserk that despite the scenes in the viral video, there haven’t been any attempts to improve the lives of the students and also provide better facilities for the school.

“Rather than chasing the headmaster or suspending the headmaster of that school out, instead of dealing with the MP and then the Minister of Education; Ghana, that is all. Just because he is a Minister, so he is untouchable,” he said angrily.

The NDC guru also blasted the media in the country for failing to make a follow-up report on the issue to “vindicate” him and shame the Akufo-Addo government.

In a related development, headmaster of Tempane SHS has been suspended following the release of the viral video.
