One Grabbed For Stealing Goats

YAW Antwi, a 35-year-old suspect, who allegedly conspired with one person (now at large) to steal 10 goats at Akyem-Anyinam in the Atiwa East District of the Eastern Region, is currently in the grips of the Suhum Police.

The suspects were apprehended at Nsawam-Doboro when the police chased them and managed to grab Yaw Antwi.

DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, the Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, who confirmed the arrest to DAILY GUIDE said, “The Suhum police night patrol team led by Corporal Alex Adjei mounted a snap checkpoint at Asuboi near Suhum and the suspect Yaw Antwi together with one Asamoah were on board a VW Passat private car with registration number GT 6383 Z . . .”

According to DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, the car was signalled to stop for routine checks and the driver gave signals that he was parking the car by the roadside, adding “as the policeman walked towards the car, the driver sped off”.

“They were then given a hot chase. The car developed a fault at Nsawam-Doboro near Accra and the occupants abandoned it and took to their heels,” he disclosed.

The police chased them and managed to arrest suspect Yaw Antwi.

After the arrest, a search was conducted and 10 goats and one sheep were found inside the boot of the car.

Upon interrogation, Yaw Antwi confessed that he and Asamoah stole the animals on the Accra-Kumasi highway near Anyinam.

Suspect Yaw Antwi is in custody assisting police in their investigations while the VW Passat car and the animals have also been kept at the Police Station.
