The NDC headquarters in Accra has moved to Tamale since Thursday, January 14, and will operate from there till the end of the congress. In an interview, the Northern Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, Chief Inspector Ebenezer Tetteh, stated that there will be six check-points on all roads leading to the congress venue, According to him, there would be a 24hour police guard at the main conference hall of the congress. Chief Inspector Tetteh added that on the day of the congress, no one will be allowed entry into the hall without accreditation. Police at the main entrance of the congress hall would search every person before being allowed into the hall. That, he said, would ensure that no one smuggled any dangerous weapon into the hall to cause confusion. Chief Inspector Tetteh also stated that the Northern Regional Police Command yesterday met with the youth groups of both the NDC and NPP. The police urged them to behave well during and after the congress, and warned that the police would deal ruthlessly with any group or individual who would try to disturb the peace.
