Police order removal of unauthorized ramps at Kasoa

The Kasoa District Police command has ordered people who have erected unauthorized ramps on roads in Kasoa to remove them within 24 hours. The Kasoa District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jordan Quaye said in a statement that these unlawfully constructed ramps cause motor accidents instead of preventing them. The statement said if the ramps were not removed the police would do so and arrest residents who live close to them and put them before court on charges of obstruction of motor traffic. It said anyone or groups of residents who had problems with motorists and wanted to erect ramps should report to Kasoa Police for assessment. The police would direct the request to the appropriate agency for redress instead of taking the law into their hands. It said the Ghana Highway Authority had the responsibility to erect ramps, road signals, signs and not Urban Councils or individuals.
