An aide to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Andy Owusu has accused the Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) of taking deliberate actions to make the current administration unpopular.

In a statement released by him, he stated that “I'm credibly informed that, the VC was fairly briefed on the possible outcome of his autocratic stands, but, he refused to give a listening ears to the calls from students representative, national security and even people in government. A stands, I find very regrettable and clearly the root cause of the unfortunate incident.”

PROF. OBIRI DANSO, A FORMER SECRETARY TO THE PNDC-ASHANTI REGION CHAPTER, IS DOING NDC'S BIDDING AT KNUST

I have observed closely the unfortunate incident that happened at KNUST few days ago; an avoidable situation, a dialogue, and prudent consensus could have been built to find a pathway or a decent solution to have averted the uproar.

But, the contrary happened and the outcome has been regrettable and unacceptable. Properties worth millions of Ghana Cedis have been vandalized, all because of the insensitivity posture or stands of the Vice Chancellor of KNUST to the demands of his students and even higher authorities.

Prof. Obiri Danso, the VC who was well known a former Secretary to the then PNDC Ashanti Regional Chapter. He worked together with Mr. Frank Mensah, Mr. Antwi Agyei, immediate former Board Chairman of metro mass to reorganize the NDC Ashanti Regional Chapter in the 80s and 90s. A reorganisation that was fruitless.

But after all these periods, he has on record used his office at all times to frustrate the NPP in opposition and now during our time in government. He on several occasions denied the NPP entry into the university during our time in opposition and I'm not surprise he's doing everything to make an NPP government unpopular.

I, without any equivocation squarely blame it all on the VC of the university. A man known to be doing the bidding of the NDC. It's an open secret that all attempts been made by Prof. Obiri Danso is to make the NPP government unpopular at the merit of the NDC has been in bed with.

I'm credibly informed that, the VC was fairly briefed on the possible outcome of his autocratic stands, but, he refused to give a listening ears to the calls from students representative, national security and even people in government. A stands, I find very regrettable and clearly the root cause of the unfortunate incident.

I therefore call on the President, the Minister of Education and the university council not to waste any resources, being it money, time or whatever into any investigations.

All evidence are clear to dismiss the Prof Obiri Danso; he masterminded the whole situation, by polarizing the atmosphere with his autocratic stands to propel these forms of action from the students only to make the government unpopular. So, I humbly ask that he will be dismissed before he creates further problems all in the name of doing the NDC's bidding.
