Youth In Agric Program Is Timely

A lecturer of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, who doubles as the National Chairperson of the (YMCA) Ghana, Dr. Emmanuel Osafo says the Youth in Agric Programme for the youth under NYEP is timely. He said this is so, because in a time Ghana has discovered oil and is about to begin drilling, the youth in Agric Program and the Agric sector will not be sacrificed for oil production. According to him, there are useful lessons to learn from our neighbor Nigeria whose agric sector shrunk into insignificance with their oil find. Dr. Osafo stated these at the opening ceremony of the country Focus Group Meeting under the General Operating Plan of the Ghana (YMCA), in Accra today. The meeting is being attended by Ghana (YMCA) partners from USA, Germany, Japan and Germany. The meeting is aimed at reviewing the projects of Ghana (YMCA) and how to support the numerous young people in Ghana to get Education, training and job. Dr. Osafo noted that the (NYEP) program is good but it should have been under National Youth Council since it has offices in all districts. He said it is sad that Ghana government has still not ratified or adopted the African youth charter of the (AU).
