We're 'Battle Ready' For 2020 - Dr Hanna Bissiw Declares

Newly elected National Women’s Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Hanna Louisa Bissiw has refuted claims that the NDC will find it difficult to come up with a strong campaign message to convince Ghanaians to vote them back into power in the 2020 elections.

The former Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture who over the weekend won the NDC National Women's Organizer contest at the Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa Feteh in the Central Region, disclosed that her party is battle-ready for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2020.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' morning show, Dr. Bissiw without disclosing her strategies as the leader of the women’s wing for the 2020 election battle, said there is a lot happening in Akufo-Addo’s government which make the NDC stand advantageous in convincing Ghanaians to vote for her party.

“We are battle-ready for 2020 election; though we cannot disclose our strategies for the election . . . we have a lot of reasons to convince Ghanaians to vote again for the NDC due to how the Akufo-Addo government is running the country. Akufo-Addo accused Mahama’s government of borrowing money but he is doing worse than that and when we complain, he is saying he will continue to borrow because even U.S borrows money,” she told sit-in host Kwame Adjetia.

She indicated that “nobody forced President Akufo-Addo to declare ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ and even setting up a secretariat”.

“The NDC did not force President Akufo-Addo to proclaim that within 18 months things will turn around to the extent that Ghanaians will forget they are in Ghana but abroad,” she added.

According to the former Member of Parliament for Tano South constituency, President Akufo-Addo and his Vice were not programmed as robots, but with sound minds they promised Ghanaians ‘One district one factory; assuring victims in Brong Ahafo of the payment of their DKM and 'God Is Love' defrauded investment monies in their first year in office.

Dr. Hanna Bissiw mentioned that cocoa farmers have been deceived by Akufo-Addo’s government as it failed to increase the cocoa price as promised.

“Nobody forced the NPP to assure commercial drivers of massive reduction in fuel price when they come to power, spare parts dealers and traders have apologised to Mahama and the NDC government; importers are crying because of the import duties they have to pay to clear their goods. Teacher and nursing trainees have not been left of the suffering and the quota system is back as people have resorted to giving bribes before gaining admission in schools,” she narrated.

According to her this is just the beginning of the hardship Ghanaians are going to face as it is only 2 years of Akufo-Addo’s bad governance.
