Chief urges Ghanaians to partner government in development

Nana Baah Sarpong, Akwamuhene of Pra-River near Nnadieso in the Asante-Akim South District has underscored the need for Ghanaians to support the government in its drive to inject pace into the socio-economic development of the nation. They should accept to do their bit to improve on the living conditions in their communities. Nana Sarpong was addressing a durbar organized by the chiefs and people to raise funds towards the implementation of some development projects in the town. These include the construction of a six-unit teachers� bungalow and provision of sanitation facilities. He reminded the people that they had a responsibility to initiate self-help projects to better their lives and should avoid over-dependence on the government for all their socio-economic needs. He said given the enormous demands on government it was imperative for the various communities to share in the burden of development. He appealed to the youth to rekindle their communal spirit to enable the community to complete the projects on schedule. Madam Mavis Baah, the assembly member, announced plans by the district assembly to build a health facility in the community. She asked them to pay their taxes to the assembly to help it to support the development the communities.
