Apedwa Catholic School receives roofing sheets

The East Akim Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Simon Peter Asirifi, on Tuesday presented three bundles of roofing sheets towards the roofing of the Apedwa Catholic Junior High School new block. Presenting the items Mr Asirifi advised the management of the school to use the items for the intended purposes. He said sometimes when such items were given to communities and they were not utilized on time, some influential members of the community borrowed them and the project for which the items were presented would not be completed. Baafour Kwesi Ansah, Aduanahene of Apedwa, on behalf of the chiefs and people of the town thanked Mr Asirifi for his prompt response to their request. The Assembly member for the area, Ms Juliana Afea Serwaa, appealed to the assembly to help rehabilitate the road leading to the school and also for the provision of desks for the school. Mr Patrick Yeyie, Head Teacher of the school, said in 2004 a rainstorm ripped the roof of the JHS block and during inspection of the damage caused to the building the district building engineer said the building was dangerous for occupation. He said an old pupil of the school now resident in London, Ms Yaa Pomaa, provided some funding and with other funding from the Member of Parliaments Common Fund, the community provided communal labour for a new school block to be constructed. Mr Yeyie said the community had managed to roof part of the building and the presentation was timely to help complete the roofing.
