GES Orders Headteachers To Line Pupils On Street To Welcome Akufo-Addo

The Ghana Education Service in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region has asked headteachers of schools in the District to release their pupils to line up on the streets in honour of a Presidential visit on Thursday.

According to the letter communicating the directive, President Nana Akufo-Addo will be in the District to engage stakeholders on “the development agenda of the country and also commission a one district one factory [project].”

The notice, dated November 20 and signed by District Education Director, Mavis Yirenkyi, directed teachers in some 11 basic schools and a senior high school within the district to accompany their pupils for the exercise.

The listed schools are Saviour Cambridge Junior High School (JHS), South Senchi D/A JSH, New Akrade Presby JHS, Atimpoku D/A JHS, Ankyease D/A JHS and Akwamu-Abuakwa D/A JHS. The rest are Akwamu-West Presby JHS, Akosombo VRA JHS No1, Akosoombo VRA JHS No2, Senchi-Ferry Methodist JHS and New Senchi RC JHS.

The letter also requested students from the Akwamuman SHS to join their junior colleagues to “line up along the principal streets from New Akrade, through Atimpoku to Akosombo, to welcome the President and his entourage.”
