The Academy of Christ the King Senior High School situated in the heart of Cape Coast is to be relocated from its present location to Abura near Cape Coast. Mr. Victor Kofi Mensah-Adator, the Headmaster, said the relocation had become necessary because of lack of space for expansion and due to the noisy environment that is not good for teaching and learning. The new site, which is expected to be completed within a year, will enable the school to admit more students and enhance the performance of the students as they will be learning in a peaceful and quiet environment. Consequently a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of an eight-unit pavilion at Abura was done on Tuesday by the Anglican Bishop of Cape Coast, the Rt Rev Sylvanus Allotey for work to start on the project. It is being financed by Approachers Ghana Limited, a company that deals in books, which presented a cheque for GH�20,000. Mr. Mensah-Adator said even though many of the students admitted by the school had poor aggregates the quality tuition they received enabled them to excel and gained admission into universities and other tertiary institutions. The headmaster appealed to the Anglican Church, the government, philanthropists, parents as well as the entire community of Cape Coast to assist in the relocation. The board chairman of the school, Prof Albert Addo-Quaye, said the land for the new site was bought 30 years ago but the school lacked funds to start the project and reiterated calls for support from government and other organizations. He said the pavilion would house the present third year students and that the others would join in phases until the project was completed. The Mayor of Cape Coast, Mr. Anthony Egyir Aikins, also appealed to the community to contribute to the project because the government alone cannot fund the full cost of education and pledged the support of the metropolitan assembly. Mr. Alfred Obeng, the Chief Executive Officer of Approachers� Ghana Limited, said it was the desire of his company to promote quality education in the region through affordable books as well as help develop education infrastructure. The Central Regional Director of Education, Mr. Sarfo Kantanka, appealed to the students to be disciplined and studious in order to attract more institutions and individuals to invest in the project.
